Faith Formation MINISTRY
BECOMING CATHOLIC – R.C.I.A.
The RCIA is for three groups of people:
- Those who are not baptized.
- Those who were baptized into another Christian denomination and wish to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.
- Baptized Catholics who were never formed in the Catholic faith and have not completed their initiation; that is, who have received neither of the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
Those interested in this process should contact the nearest Catholic Church. If you are not sure who/where this is in the Diocese of Lexington, please contact the Worship Office for assistance.
The RCIA process provides an opportunity for adults* who are seeking initiation (Unbaptized) or full Communion (Baptized Christian) with the Church to learn about the Catholic faith. Classes are held Sunday mornings immediately following the 8:30 a.m. mass beginning in late August and concluding in the spring.
Volunteers are needed to be Sponsors (faith companions) to people becoming Catholic and to lead discussions during the 6 Sundays in Lent when RCIA inquirers are dismissed from Mass after the homily. Additionally, ministers are needed to be a part of a hospitality team to make coffee and provide food for the sessions.
For more information, contact Tricia Davis, (859) 248-2495.
*Children over the age of 8 should be enrolled in the RCIC program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children). Classes are held Sunday mornings immediately following the 8:30 a.m. mass beginning in late August and concluding in the spring.
